35 Teachers from St. Mary’s Primary School in Ipswich visited us and were treated to a day, filled with personal stories and first hand accounts of what life was like growing up on the mission. The teachers experienced first hand the various activities on offer to school groups through our excursion program, education resources and films. They arrived by bus from Ipswich at 10am and left at 2pm. They were treated to Aunty Ada’s fried scones and syrup and a finger lunch was organised.
The teachers acknowledged that a visit to the Ration Shed has helped build their confidence to embed Indigenous perspectives and build their cultural competency. They bought many of the educational resources we have on offer – Our history book, work booklets, Budburra books and DVD’s.
