Help and Sponsor

The Ration Shed Museum in Cherbourg has been up and running for six years and has become the historical and cultural heart of the Cherbourg community. The Ration Shed has been visited by thousands of school children, Cherbourg community members, and people from the South Burnett region – visitors from near and far. They have come to find out more about our lives – to experience first hand what life was like for us living under the Aboriginal Protection Act. We set out to give our community a strong clear sense of their history, a renewal of pride, to engage and to educate the people of Queensland and Australia about what we lived through and to offer a positive vision of the future. The number of visitors that have come in over the years is a sign of our success. We have received funds to design and build our precinct and run various projects. These projects have been completed and at the moment we rely on income generated by fees from visitors and the sales of our merchandise to keep us going. The next phase is critical –  We have a plan in place to develop a vibrant educational and cultural centre for school students and youth.  We are managing our finances well and are able to employ one full time Cherbourg resident but are in need of funds to develop  more resources and educational material. We are appealing to the communities and are asking for sponsorship from people who we believe will support what we stand for. Would you be in a position to assist us and help us develop a vibrant cultural and educational centre that everyone in the South Burnett and beyond can access and enjoy?
