Remembering the DOMO Girls

In 2013 we made a film about the Boys Dormitory system in Cherbourg called “The Domo Boys”. Many people encouraged us to also make a film and honour the stories of the Dormitory girls. Mosaic Workshop a hit!

At the end of our Mosaic workshop, the Many Threads knitters and sewers, vowed to put down their needles and focus solely on mosaicking for the rest of the year. Thumbs up for our NAIDOC celebration!

NAIDOC celebrations at the Ration Shed Museum on the 7th of July were the best yet. Winners of the John Oxley Library Community History Award

The Ration Shed Museum was one of the winners of the 2015 Queensland Memory Awards, presented at an awards ceremony at State Library Queensland on the Thursday 28 May. 2015 Reconciliation Fun Run – a great success!

This year over 400 runners and walkers participated in the 7km Ration Shed’s Reconciliation Fun Run from Murgon to Cherbourg. “Boys From Barambah” – Our Black Diggers from WW1

On the Tuesday the 21st of April, a yearlong project finally came to fruition and we launched “The Boys from Barambah” project. “The Boys from Barambah”, is the story of 47 Barambah/Cherbourg men who played a part in WW1. Many Threads workshops for young girls

During the Easter Holidays we held a two day yarning and craft workshop for young girls which was called “Trash to Fashion”. Apology Event

On the 24 February we celebrated the Apology at the Ration Shed Museum. The event was held in the Boys Dormitory.
