Judy Watson ran a 2-day contemporary art workshop for local artists. It was a small, intense workshop and some great pieces of art were created.
At this workshop artists made various experimental backgrounds, on which they overlaid kitchen utensils and other objects. These objects were collected from our archive room. Rocko called his works: “My Kitchen Rules.” The artists were all very inspired and want to explore this theme further over the coming weeks.
Rocko and Vincent have also been screen-printing local Cherbourg place names onto hessian and canvas banners that will be hung along with the canvases.
Joolie Gibbs from the Gympie Gallery came for a visit and was shown some of the artworks that have been produced. These included watercolours and some charcoal rubbings of the Ration Shed Museum. Joolie loved some of the work and has booked a Cherbourg exhibition at the Gympie gallery for March next year.
