We organized our community NAIDOC Open Day for the 5th of July and had been planning it for weeks. In the early morning of the 5th – it began pouring with rain. The phones were ringing hot – “were we going to go ahead and celebrating NAIDOC?” was the question we were asked. We made the call we would to ahead and what a good decision it was. Some said it was the best NAIDOC ever! We had to rub shoulders, get close and bump up against each other – a beautiful day – thanks to all who participated and helped make the day such a success! There was camp oven food, a BBQ, bush tucker, boomerang painting, traditional dancing, films and many other stalls and activities.
Thanks to all our funders – IAS – Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, South Burnett Council and Community and Disability Services.
